David Seckendorf's Harley-Davidson Murrini Project.
Over the last couple of months, I've put about thirty hours of work into building what I believe to be the first Harley-Davidson murrini cane. It's hand made on a torch using Moretti glass. Here are some pictures of this project from start to finish. My thanks go out to Loren Stump for giving me the inspiration and confidence to go through with this project.
6/17/02 Go to Harley Letters to see just the letters before they were assembled into words. I've spent many hours practicing making letters to get to this point.
6/24/02 I'm making progress. Here I have three of the four words assembled. I would have had "CYCLES" finished but after putting the single letters together in the flame, I looked at it and saw that the "Y" was upside down. I spent the rest of the afternoon making new letters for "CYCLES" since all the good ones were used up in my first attempt.
6/28/02 I added the picture of the finished word, "CYCLES." If things go well, I'll be assembling the finished piece this weekend.
6/29/02 Just finished the final pull. Two solid hours on the torch. The piece is in the kiln.
